Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning

Once again Pat and friends are participating in the event to support MacMillan Cancer Support.
Friday 25th September at 17 Burgate between 10.30 and 12.30. Once again there will be a tombola but also this year a raffle with some amazing prizes-spa days, meals at top restaurants and many more. So please if you are in the area come along, have a chat and meet nice people with great coffee and cake-oh and help a very worthy cause!!!

NYMR Autumn Steam Gala

Exciting News just , and I mean just, announced. The star attraction will be Oliver Cromwell -the first Britannia to run on the Moors. Support cast will include the Royal Scot and Sir Nigel Gresley-14 locomotives in all over the weekend of 2nd to 4th October. We have avaliability but once the news gets out rooms will go quickly.

Yorkshire Day part two

Ok so it rained most of the day-who said God is a Yorkshireman?? But everything still happened and the Brass Bands stuck at it even when the rain started again. Hope this will become an annual celebration in Pickering

As everYorkshire Day is on the 1st August. The main Civic Event is in Malton but we are having our own celebrations in Pickering. Brass bands, stalls and amusements, fancy dress and much more-come and have a look

It's Show Time!!!

Yes it's that time of year again and the Show season starts this week with Ryedale Show on 28th July. Then we have Thorton Le Dale on 5th August with Farndale and Rosedale to follow.
These one day Shows are great days out and still very much based on traditional rural pursuits.
It is also the Traction Engine Rally in Pickering from the 6th August-a magnificent spectacle.
We do not have much availability but I'm sure some others do ,so come and have a good time in Ryedale

For some years Flamingoland has been the must visit park for white knuckle afficianados-this year they have a new stomach churner-120 feet high with an "S" shaped drop and roll. It is very very scary-so don't miss it

The Staycation does exist

After a gentle start to the year things are picking up-we are beginning to think the staycation does exist. Great to see so many returners and referrals-I guess this is what gives us confidence that 17 works for most people.

Dalby Forest

The Great Yorkshire Forest is on our doorstep and has a new visitor centre and full programme of activities-from star watching to mushroom hunting,from bushcraft to badgers. Then of course there is Go Ape ,mountain biking and a range of walking.For details see www.forestry.gov.uk

23 and 24 May is War Time weekend in Scarborough and the Olivers Mount Motor Bikes races.
The Vienna Festival Ballet are in Scarborough on 28th May
Enjoy the 60s in Whitby between the 5th and 7th of June and the following weekend in Pickering
Then its Truckfest weekend and the concerts is the forest-we do have a room on the Friday for any McFly fans out there

There are over 80 miles of marked walks accessible from Pickering and as part of the process these will be improved and maintained.

New YTB Chief Executive

Having held the position on an interim basis Gary Verity has now been appointed Chief Executive of the Yorkshire Tourist Board on a permanent basis.
We have been very impressed with the impact he has made in the last few months and the sense of revitalisation there is across the organisation.

This is a consortium of 24 of the regions 5 Star Guest Accommodation working together to showcase the quality of accommodation and service in Yorkshire. 17 Burgate have been prime movers in this initiative and we are over the moon to have reached this point.
Yorkshires Finest has the support of the Yorkshire Tourist Board and will seek to further widen membership.
